Now I have looked at many thriller posters I have noticed that there are lots of similarities:

• Low-key lighting
• Muted colour schemes
• Rating is high, suggesting violence
• Mysterious tagline, referencing genre and creating enigma
• Fonts used indicate genre
• Reviews use genre-specific language or reference the genre itself
• The title of the film indicates genre
• Often characters are running or looking vulnerable
• References to other films from the same genre
